SIT & STITCH - Saturday Afternoons
 
On Saturday afternoons we open the shop for Sit & Stitch. This is your opportunity to bring along a current project, or to start a new one and then take time out to stitch in the company of others. We are there to help, and answer questions but no tuition is provided. Come and join us in our inspiring and relaxing workspace, we are limited by size (max 8), so bookings are essential. Cost per person is $15.
Coffee & tea is available at class or we have The Marian Street Café next door.

WEEKLY CLASSES

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning's throughout the year we hold in store sit & stitch classes with our local needlework tutor.

If you have a project that you need some help on or would just like to stitch in the company of others, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you. Our tutor will be there to answer your questions, provide guidence, and encouragement when necessary! Come and join us for a morning each week to get that project underway or completed. We are limited by size (maximum 6), so bookings are essential. Coffee & tea is available at class, or we have The Marian Street Café nex door.

Tuition pre-paid for the full term is $20 per class (spot secured) .
 

EMBROIDERY WORKSHOPS - 2024

We have some wonderful classes planned for 2024. More details will be added once finalised.



  

A STITCHING STORY
- Designer & Tutor: Karen John
Monthly Workshop: 10.00am - 2.00pm (FULL)
Dates: 4th Friday Monthly, commencing 23 February 2024
Tuition Cost: $70 per person, per month for 10 months (February - November). $140.00 payment required to secure your spot. Tuition includes comprehensive module stitch notes, prepared by Karen.
Materials Kit: $85 available at the first class (Includes Japanese embroidery linen piece with design grid lines, full pattern/ module stitch notes & Bohin needles). Kits are only available for class participants to purchase.

A yummy home baked morning tea/ coffee each month is included in the workshop cost.



  

TONED DOWN CIRCLE SAMPLER - Tutor: Karen John
Monthly Workshop: 10.00am - 2.00pm (FULL)
Dates: 4th Saturday Monthly, commencing 24 February 2024
Tuition Cost: $70 per person, per month for 5 months (February - June). $140.00 payment required to secure your spot.
Sue Spargo Materials Kit: Background wool and circles, Ellana Wool Threads, Spoke Easy Templates and Bohin Needles. Kit Cost TBC.
Requirements: All participants will be required to purchase the 'Sue Spargo - Toned Down Circle Sampler" Pattern and Sue Spargo Materials Kit as part of attending the workshop.
Embellishment threads are available in store but not included in the kit.

DEERFIELD EMBROIDERY - Tutor: Janet Luce
"Deerfield embroidery is a form of blue-on-white work (free style embroidery) associated with the town of Deerfield in western Massachusetts, USA. Typically the designs were based on eighteenth century Dutch tiles and Delftware, which often included floral motifs".

Workshop run over two days:
Dates: Friday 14 June & Friday 12 July 2024
Timing: 10.30am - 2.30pm
Tuition Cost: $110 per person, per day. A deposit of $100 is required to secure your spot.
 

LITTLE EMBROIDERED PURSES - Tutor: Michelle King



The beloved Japanese embroidery artist Yumiko Higuchi’s collection of motifs, showcased on a variety of little purses.  Come along and learn how to embroider and put together these beautiful little purses. Michelle will share her tips and techniques for embroidering and sewing the bags, installing metal purse clasps, and making pompom and tassel embellishments. All participants of this class will need to have purchased the workbook 'Simply Stitched with Embroidery' by Yumiko Higuchi' (included in the workshop kit).

One Day Workshop:
Date: Friday 10 May 2024
Timing: 10.30am - 2.30pm
Tuition Cost: $75 per person + kit. Payment in full is required to secure your spot.

Materials Kit: Will be available to purchase at the first class and include; a pack of embroidery linen pieces, class workbook: 'Simply Stitched with Embroidery' by Yumiko Higuchi, needles, threads and purse clasps x 2. Additional purse clasps will be available for class participants to purchase.

A yummy home baked morning tea/ coffee is included in the workshop cost.

Classes at The Crewel Gobelin are limited in size to 8 participants, so if you are interested please secure your spot with a deposit to avoid disappointment. We are happy to take expressions of interest when a class is being developed, but once a class has been finalised and is open for enrolments your place is not guaranteed without full or part payment. Class payments need to be finalised one month prior to a class taking place. Bookings can be made online, by phone or in person.
 
If a class is cancelled by The Crewel Gobelin all tuiton fees paid will be refunded. If a student is unable to attend a class and their place is unable to be filled from a waiting list, the deposit and class fee paid may not be refunded.

Please note that the projects and designs taught at The Crewel Gobelin and available for sale in kits (all or part thereof) remain the property of the designer/ teacher and cannot be reproduced, sold or taught without their permission.
